We have some exciting news but first we'd like to invite all of you to a Q&A session at 19:30 GMT on August 7th next week. The session will be streamed live on through our Instagram. Make sure to join us with questions that you may have.

Wave has shipped

Now for the news.. Waves have been shipped across the globe and landed in your creative hands. We love seeing you using Wave; please share your creative explorations by tagging @genkiinstruments and using the hashtag #wavebygenki.

Softwave for Windows

The beta version of Softwave is now available for Windows as well as Mac OSX. The software is located in the Wave 101 help-page. We should stress that this is a beta version that still has some kinks. If you notice weird behavior, or have suggestions on how we could improve it further, please reach out to us ([email protected]) or on the Genki Instruments Community Group on Facebook, which all of you should all be joining anyway :-)

All the best from the Genki team in Reykjavik,
Ólafur, Haraldur, Jón and Daníel

p.s. if you haven't received your Wave yet, make sure to contact us ([email protected]) and we'll assist you in any way we can.

Dear backers

The wait is over, Wave has officially shipped! You should receive confirmation from UPS by the end of the week with relevant details.

Public Service Announcement

We are fully committed to providing you with the absolute best motion controller for music that money can buy; one that fits naturally into your own setup. That is why we have developed an innovative software layer that we call Softwave, that you will receive for free with your purchase of Wave. Within Softwave you can intuitively map movements to MIDI messages or host AU/VST3 plugins and create your own presets. Softwave also comes with a synthesizer engine built-in so you can start playing straight away.

Wave will continue to function as a standalone MIDI controller that you can manually MIDI map. However, we sincerely feel that Softwave opens up exciting new possibilities when playing Wave.

For instructions and tutorials on how to set Wave up with your system, visit start.genkiinstruments.com. We are working hard to make Wave compatible with the latest version of Windows 10 and hope for that to be finished soon. If you are a Windows user please reply to this e-mail and we will give you more details.

You will receive your Reaktor Blocks license and Waveblock in the coming weeks.

Takk!

You should know that we are thankful beyond words for your relentless support and encouragement since the inception of the project some sixteen months ago. Please join the Genki Instruments Community Group on Facebook and make sure to tag us on your Wave Instagram posts.

We hope that you will have as much fun playing with Wave as we had making it. Now go create something!

All the best from Reykjavík,

Ólafur, Haraldur, Jón Helgi and Daníel

Dear backers

Time for an update on the last steps necessary to get the products in your hands.

Final assembly

Last week all the rings and modules were produced at the Sanmina factory in Finland, and now they are being assembled there. We're just missing the final touches to have them ready for shipping.

We have attached a few photos from the process to the end of the update.

Certifications

We are waiting for all the relevant certifications and licenses to be approved before we can ship out. We've done preliminary testing which indicates that nothing stands in the way.  However, the formal process and paperwork of getting the approvals and stamps is dragging on longer than expected.

We had anticipated to have them by the end of June but it seems it will be delayed into July. Unfortunately we cannot ship any products out before we receive these certificates. We do not know for how long we have to wait but it we're hopeful to ship out by mid-July the latest.

We are so sad to have to push shipping back as we've put everything we have into making a June-shipment a reality but this is out of our control.

Shipping

Everything is in place to ship the minute we receive the final certifications and all logistics are in place. You should all have received an email last week with the final notice to lock in your addresses. They are currently locked but if there is anyone who thinks the wrong address might be linked with your Indiegogo or Backerkit (our fulfillment system). Please send us an email or message through here to double check it.

With love from Iceland,
The Genki Instruments team

Dear Backers!

We're getting close - so close we can feel it.

Final preperations

Next week we start the assembly of your rings and that process takes a couple of weeks. In the meanwhile, we're waiting on the last certifications and licenses to come through so we can ship out.

All of this means that we are on track to ship out by the end of June.

Shipping information and formalities

Starting from today and over the next couple of weeks you'll receive emails from us through Backerkit, the platform we're using to help us fulfill your order, regarding shipping addresses and in some cases finalizing payments. Please keep an eye out for them and if you're having any trouble reach out through [email protected]

Additions

At the end of May we introduced velocity sensitive tapping. It's fun. We look forward to you having fun with it!

Dear backers!

The past month has been action packed and we have a lot to share so let's dive in:

Collaboration with Native Instruments

During the month we announced a project we've been working on with Native Instruments and ties into their Reaktor 6 Player and Reaktor Blocks release. We're proud to say that we're partnering with Native Instruments to make Wave a part of the Reaktor Blocks ecosystem.

What does that mean?

This means that with when you receive your Wave, it ships with REAKTOR Blocks which includes Waveblock that connects Wave instantly to the software. Waveblock allows you to use Wave out of the box with REAKTOR’s powerful synthesis engine.

Read more about it here

Final test run before production

During the month we assembled 100 units of Wave to make sure all molds, electronics and processes are in good order before we go ahead with the first round of mass manufacturing.

Long story short = everything turned out as well as we could have hoped for! That means that now we only have to wait for some of these units to go through a process to get certifications and order components for the commercial manufacturing round. That is still on track to happen in June and then you will be the very first to receive your Wave!

We can't wait to get the rings in your hands.

Superbooth 2019

Next week we will be at Superbooth 2019 in Berlin! If you're around, come say hi at booth 304 ad play with Wave + Wavefront.
